Chief Security Officer:, Uber Operations LLC. — 2014—Present

Manage a team of cybersecurity professionals around the globe to provide security and support that does 'follow-the-sun'.  We are continuing to work with partners to protect, monitor, virtualize, integrate and migrate into the "cloud".  Using services such as VMware vCloud, Amazon AWS, HNAS and others to provide secure, on-demand compute resources to customers. Assisting customers in becoming compliant with FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA and DISA STIG regulations along the way.
Manage multiple Amazon Web Services accounts for customers providing day-to-day operational support as well as integration into present and future integration efforts with their customers.

Developed, designed and implemented UberMonitoring ™ as a continuous cybersecurity risk management system for all Uber Operations customers.  This multi-tiered system has been vetted through 3 different independent penetration tests, many casual penetration attempts and actual, targeted attempts.   The system uses many industry best practice systems to aggregate data from numerous sources to make real-time decisions on components like; system discovery and monitoring, intrusion detection/prevention, cost management, patch management, compliance (HIPAA, FISMA and DISA to name a few) and continuous vulnerability assessment/remediation.

Senior Consultant:, Strategic Business Systems, Inc. — 2008—2014
Represented SBS for partners such as VMware, Dell, and other global enterprises some of which required DoD clearance to perform engagements for US Department of Defense customers.  Performed VMware Virtualization Assessments and VMware HealthChecks for VMware customers.  Also developed customized, automated Active Directory, DNS, SSL certificates (including integration with DoD CAC), VMware ESX, vCenter, Vmware Configuration Manager, IIS, SQL, Exchange, NFS and CIFS NAS devices including Hitachi HNAS, backup solutions using products like CommVault Simpana and Hitachi Content Platform which included off-site (de-duplicated) replication, Cisco (including Nexus 1000v, VLAN tagging, trunking, jumbo frames, LACP and RADIUS authentication) and installation procedures for customers based on business needs  This enabled the installed systems to pass any needed  IA security audits.  Provided detailed architecture plans, detailed design documentation, step-by-step procedures, including COOP and CONOP for DoDI 8500.2 compliance in the form of official documentation, hands-on cross-training and customer knowledge transfer for customers to perform all scripted actions manually  Also documented vendor-specific best practices to ensure proper security posture also maintained supportability with the software vendors.
Traveled to various customer sites around the world to perform complete datacenter upgrades.  This included physical installation and configuration of racks, switches, power and network cabling, Dell PowerEdge, Dell PowerVault (direct attached and iSCSI) and virtual tape libraries. Designed custom scripts, SQL stored procedures and automated workflows using SQL queries, PHP, Perl, bash, PowerShell, vb scripts, etc. to integrate disparate systems, VCM, VSM, ITOI, and SQL to name a few, allowing for automated discovery, configuration and compliance of systems connected to customer networks.  This also allowed for the development of automated “Bare-Metal” installations of Windows server (2003, 2008, 2008 R2), Windows XP, Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), RedHat and Solaris for both physical hardware and vSphere 4.x VMs to be deployed on demand as needed.  This not only included base OS but customer software and compliance templates for reporting and remediation of out of compliance systems.

Virtualization Consultant, MTI, Inc. — 2006-2008
Represented MTI for partner companies at customer sites designing and implementing VMWare VI3, including physical to virtual migrations and 3 day VI3 Jumpstarts to suit customer requirements.  This included capacity planning projects for customers using VMWare’s Capacity Planner as well as custom scripts to demonstrate real-world cost savings numbers to clients thinking about virtualizing their environment.

Systems Engineer, Netbank, Inc. — 2006–2008
Presented concept to management, designed, implemented, managed and monitored the installation of VMWare ESX 2.  This expanded to 7 enterprise class servers and migration of all VMware LUNs to new HP EVA storage with.  Created an automated provisioning system for all VMs, (Prod,DMZ,DR Testing and Lab) for all departments.  The consolidation efforts reduced hardware costs by $600,000 in the first year.  Designed, architected and implemented the migration of over 2,600 users from disparate NT 4 and Win2k AD environment to Win2k3 due to the acquisition of new companies.  Also migrated said users to Netbank’s Exchange 2003 environment. This included “over the air” synchronization with Windows Mobile devices and Good Technology’s product with various Sprint mobile devices in order to integrate with internal systems.

Global Technology Architect, Solutia, Inc. — 2000-2003
Member of the Core Technology Team responsible for setting the Enterprise Technology standards for a 10,000 global user base across 54 sites.  Was responsible for implementing Active Directory, SMS, and Exchange, across Solutia's 54 sites, located across North America, EMEA, APAC, and LAR. Not only was this a new design, but the migration moved them away from their legacy NT domain and cc:Mail infrastructure.   This included an overall server reduction of 74%, and a widely well received and better performing mail environment, from the user perspective.  From the IT and cost perspective SMS allowed for the easy deployment of software and re-imaging of failed machines, reducing IT costs and user downtime.  Solutia was later recognized by AA for having the best and most secure AD configuration they had seen to date.
As sponsor of the E-Business center of excellence, led the team in designing and understanding the corporate standards for email communications, and trained admins to perform basic maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting on their Exchange servers.
Presented and managed Solutia's first development environment based entirely upon VMWare GSX, a technology in which they are heavily invested today.  All aspects of the project were documented in detail, making operational transition to Solutia very smooth.
Functioning as 3rd tier IT Support to remote plant sites, communication and availability to be immediately available was crucial while maintaining current skills by attending classes and self study, such as Microsoft approved courses for Active Directory development as well as deploying Exchange 2000.
